Cochin

DAY 01 : Arrive Cochin

Arrive Cochin during early morning.

Meeting and assistance on Arrival and transfer to the Hotel.

Cochin: Queen of the Arabian Sea. Believed to be the finest natural harbour in the world. With ferry rides commanding its breath taking view. As you cruise around man-made islands with lush green lawns sloping down to the water's edge. Cochin is the oldest European settlement in India. Recording a history of visitors who came, saw and stayed for hundreds of years. Layered impressions - Chinese, Arab, Jewish, British, French and Portuguese are contained within its environment.

Afternoon:- Half day tour of the satellite towns of Kochi (Cochin) and Ernakulam comprises visits to the Dutch Palace (closed on Fridays), the Jewish Synagogue - (which remains closed on Saturdays) St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Basilica. While driving along the coastline, at the Harbour's mouth, one can also view the unique and still-in-use "Chinese Fishing Nets" which were introduced by the Chinese traders in the 14th Century. The tour ends in the Fort Kochi area where you can walk through the historical Dutch and Portuguese buildings. Some parts of this nearly 500-year-old Fort are still amazingly well preserved. Also visit Jew Street which is famous for the antiques.


Evening: enjoy Kathakali Dance Performance. Kathakali is a ritualized dance form native to Kerala; elaborate costumes and makeup, as seen here, are the norm. Male dancers portray both male and female roles.

Munnar

DAY 02 : COCHIN – MUNNAR(127 kms)

Morning: leave for Munnar by surface.

Munnar: is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathani & Kundala. 1600 meter above sea level this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling Tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Dense forests, wildlife sanctuaries and major cash crop plantations cover most of the region. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India - Anamudi , which towers over 2695 m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking

DAY 03 : IN MUNNAR

Morning:- visit the Tata Tea Museum which diligently portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Visitors to the museum can satiate their curiosity on various stages of tea processing, and also learn a thing or two about the production of black tea.

Also enjoy some nature walks and visit near by places.

Day 04 : MUNNAR – PERIYAR (135 kms)Periyar

Morning:- leave for Periyar by surface.

Periyar:- best known for its wildlife, is a must-see for all visitors to Kerala. The Periyar Lake lies at the heart of the sanctuary which is a veritable paradise for all wildlife lovers. Where else can one view the animals in their natural surroundings while cruising on the lake, or better still come within a few feet of a herd of wild elephants and still be at ease! The majestic gaur, deer, wild boar and the distinctive Nilgiri langur are often spotted along the lake as also water birds.

On arrival in Periyar, check-in at the Hotel.

DAY 05 : PERIYAR – KUMARAKOM(127 kms)

Morning:- Two hours boat trip on the lake are the usual way of touring the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the most important and frequently visited in India. Trips along the large artificial lake surrounded by dense forests is by itself value for money besides offering the opportunity to view wild life specially elephants, wild boar, etc.

Afternoon:- leave for Kumarakom by surface.

Kumarakom: On the shores of the enchanting Vembanad lake, 14 kms from Kottayam, lies Kumarakom in its small town hush. Redolent of restful peace. A boat ride in the countryside offers a close look into an engaging rustic life. Skiff-fishermen launching there cockeshell boats. Large flotillas of ducks waddling down to the water from thatched houses on the banks. Women, neck-deep in water, with there waist-length hair heaped in a crown, searching for fish with there feet. And aimless cattle grazing in lush pasture-land, where white lotuses lie here and there in small, low-lying pools.

DAY 06 : IN KUMARAKOM House Boat

Full day free in Kumarakom for Independent activities.

Day 07 : BOARD HOUSE BOAT / OVERNIGHT AT HOUSE BOAT

Full day cruise on the backwaters. The backwater cruise takes off through a network of canals with a backdrop of villages and coconut trees on the shores.

DAY 08 : ARRIVE ALLEPEYALLEPEY-KOVALAM(170 kms)

Disembark at Alleppey and leave for Kovalam by surface

Kovalam: On the Malabar coast along the Kerala shore line is a small village, called Kovalam. This sleepy town suddenly came on the tourist map when its fabulous beaches were discovered. Today Kovalam has become one of the most popular beach hangouts in India. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and truly the coconut trees along the beaches gives it a ravishing look. The palm-fringed bays in secluded coconut groves, promise a relaxed stay. The boundless blue waters of the Arabian Sea and miles of white sands washed away by the surf at the feet of the stalwart palms and the rocky promontories, makes this beach paradise. This marvellous beach is a tourist's dream come true.

DAY 11 : DAY 11 KOVALAM – COCHIN(233 kms)

Morning:- free.

Afternoon:- leave for Cochin by surface.

On arrival in Cochin transfer to International Airport to connect flight for onward sector Departing on day 12.
